Our specialists Prof. Dr. Fenchel and Prof. Dr. Ketelsen are certified cardiovascular radiologists of the German Radiological Society (DRG) and work closely together with our specialist for internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Nico Merkle, in order to combine a maximum of expert knowledge and clinical experience. Our imaging center in Mitte is certified as a Center for Cardiovascular Imaging by the German Radiological Society.
In our radiological care centers we offer both cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.
Note: The cost of cardiac MRI and cardiac CT are usually covered by the private health insurance companies. Statutory health insurance only covers the costs in certain cases.
To advise you, we have set up a special heart hotline for you.
We are at your disposal under 030 322 913 207 or by using our contact form.
When is cardiac imaging indicated?
Cardiac imaging is particularly useful in the following clinical situations:
- Chest pain or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD)
- Shortness of breath or reduced exercise capacity
- Evaluation of cardiomyopathies
- Suspected myocarditis
- Clarification of inconclusive findings from other examinations
Modern imaging allows early detection of structural and functional abnormalities, often before severe symptoms occur.
Cardiac MRI – Function and Tissue Characterization
Cardiac MRI is the leading modality for comprehensive assessment of the myocardium.
It provides:
- Quantification of cardiac function (ejection fraction, volumes)
- Detailed assessment of cardiac morphology and valves
- Myocardial perfusion imaging
- Detection of fibrosis, scarring, inflammation, and tissue damage
Cardiac MRI is radiation-free and particularly valuable in the evaluation of myocarditis, cardiomyopathies, and complex cardiac conditions.
Cardiac CT – Visualization of the Coronary Arteries
Cardiac CT (CT coronary angiography) is the method of choice for non-invasive visualization of the coronary arteries.
It is particularly suited for:
- Excluding or detecting coronary artery stenosis
- Evaluation of chest pain
- Coronary calcium scoring for cardiovascular risk assessment
The examination is fast, minimally invasive, and provides highly accurate assessment of coronary anatomy without catheterization.
Individualized and Guideline-Based Diagnostics
The choice of imaging modality is tailored to the individual clinical question.
Cardiac MRI and CT are complementary:
- MRI for functional assessment and tissue characterization
- CT for coronary artery evaluation and calcification
This approach ensures precise and patient-specific diagnostics.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Cardiac imaging is performed in close collaboration with cardiologists and other specialists.
Our reports provide clinically relevant insights that support decision-making and help ensure that invasive procedures are used only when truly necessary.
